Privacy Policy
How we collect, use and protect your personal information.
Effective date: October 2, 2026
1. Who we are
This website, mortgagefinancingbynathan.com, is operated by Nathan Lawrence, Mortgage Broker, and his team at Dominion Lending Centres Mortgage Excellence (FSRA Brokerage Licence #12438), 1141 Barton St, Thunder Bay, ON P7B 5N3. Each Dominion Lending Centres office is independently owned and operated. In this policy, “we”, “us” and “our” mean our team and the brokerage.
We follow Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and Ontario’s mortgage brokerage rules. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why, how we use and share it, and the choices you have.
2. What we collect
-
Information you give us: your name, email, phone number, the service you’re interested in, the best time to call, and anything you write in a message, chat or email.
-
Mortgage application information: if you apply, details such as your date of birth, address history, employment and income, assets, debts, the property, and (with your consent) your credit report.
-
Technical information: like most websites, our site and its hosting provider may collect your IP address, browser and device type, pages visited, and cookies. See section 7.
Please do not send your Social Insurance Number (SIN), banking passwords or full account numbers through the contact form, the chat or email.
3. The contact form
When you use our contact form, the information you enter is sent to our team at nathan.lawrence@dlcme.ca so we can reply to you. Form submissions are also stored by our website provider, Wix.com. We use this information only to respond to your enquiry and, if you ask us to, to help you with a mortgage.
4. The AskBenny chat assistant
Our website includes a chat assistant powered by AskBenny, a third-party service that may use its own sub-processors (for example, ElevenLabs for conversational AI and voice). The assistant can answer general questions and help you get in touch with our team. Please keep in mind:
-
The assistant is automated. It provides general information only, not financial, legal or mortgage advice, and it cannot approve a mortgage or promise any rate or terms.
-
What you type (and, if you use a voice feature, what you say) is processed and may be recorded and stored by the chat provider so it can respond and so we can review conversations and follow up with you.
-
The provider may process and store information on servers outside Canada, including in the United States.
-
Our website offers an AI chat and voice assistant provided by Ask Benny, a Canadian company. The assistant is built on ElevenLabs technology, and Ask Benny lists OpenAI (AI language processing) and Amazon Web Services (data storage) among its service providers, which may handle what you type or say. Your conversation may be recorded and transcribed. Recordings and transcripts are kept for 90 days and then deleted automatically. Ask Benny states that no personal data is used for AI training without explicit consent. Please do not share sensitive details in the chat, such as your SIN, account numbers, income, credit information, health details, or ID documents. To discuss your application, contact us directly.
Using the chat is optional. If you’d rather not use it, call us at 807-695-5331 or email nathan.lawrence@dlcme.ca.
5. Online applications (Newton Velocity)
Our “Apply Now” buttons take you to a secure online application hosted by Newton on its Velocity platform, a service used by mortgage brokerages across Canada. The information you enter there is collected on our behalf so we can assess your needs and arrange financing. Newton handles that information under its own privacy and security practices, and we encourage you to review its privacy policy on its site.
With your consent, we use your application to obtain your credit report and to share your information with the lenders and insurers we recommend (see section 6).
6. How we use and share your information
We use your information to respond to you, give you advice, arrange your mortgage and related insurance, service your mortgage over time (for example, at renewal), and meet our legal and regulatory obligations. We may share it, only as needed, with:
-
lenders, mortgage default insurers (such as CMHC, Sagen or Canada Guaranty) and credit bureaus (Equifax, TransUnion);
-
the insurer for the optional Mortgage Protection Plan, if you choose to apply;
-
appraisers, lawyers or notaries involved in your transaction;
-
our brokerage and the Dominion Lending Centres network, for compliance, supervision and record-keeping;
-
service providers who help us operate (website hosting, email, chat and application platforms), who must protect your information; and
-
regulators or others where the law requires it, for example FSRA.
We do not sell your personal information.
7. Cookies and analytics
Our website provider uses cookies that are needed for the site to work and may use analytics cookies to help us understand how the site is used. The embedded Google Map and the chat assistant may also set their own cookies. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; some features may not work without them.
8. Consent and your choices
By contacting us, chatting with us or applying, you consent to our collecting and using your information as described here. You can withdraw consent at any time, subject to legal or contractual limits; if you do, we may not be able to continue helping with your mortgage. We’ll only send you commercial emails or texts with your consent, as required by Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL), and every message will include a way to unsubscribe.
9. Where your information is stored
Some of our service providers (including our website host and the chat provider) may store or process information outside Canada, including in the United States. While there, it may be subject to the laws of that country.
10. How long we keep it and how we protect it
We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes above, or as long as the law requires, including mortgage brokerage record-keeping rules. We protect it with reasonable physical, administrative and technical safeguards, such as secure systems, access controls and staff training.
11. Access and correction
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you and ask us to correct it. Contact our privacy officer (below). We may need to confirm your identity first, and we’ll respond within the time required by law.
